What We Do
The Tulsa Educare Center is located in the Kendall-Whittier neighborhood and serves
200 low-income children in a state-of-the-art learning center, providing a range of
educational, medical, and social-emotional supports for each child and family.
The Center serves as a model of excellence that illustrates to both the public
and private sectors the impact that high quality early education can have on
children's lives.
Services for Children
Early Education & Care
Children are born learning. Tulsa Educare provides developmentally appropriate learning
materials that allow children to participate in active problem solving during play.
Kindergarten Readiness Skills
Children preparing for kindergarten are taught early literacy and numeracy
skills, which will enhance their success in kindergarten. Instruction is
individualized, as each child's pattern and pace of development may vary.
Social & Emotional Skill Development
Children are encouraged to adopt and exhibit pro-social, cooperative
behavior. Children who can understand and follow basic social rules are more
successful in their school careers.
Healthcare
A health clinic is located on site at Tulsa Educare to attend to the health
needs of the children enrolled. This clinic is staffed by members of the
University of Oklahoma Department of Pediatrics.
Nutrition
Children are served a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack daily.
Assessment of Progress
Children are periodically assessed to determine their progress in the
development of cognitive, language, social-emotional, daily living, and
fine and gross motor skills.
Services for Families
Family Partnership Agreement
Parents work with staff to develop a Family Partnership Agreement identifying
the strengths and concerns of the family and prioritizing the family's goals
for the parents and child.
Parent Informational Meetings
Monthly parent meetings are held to provide additional information about child
development, effective parenting, and other related topics.
Classroom Volunteers
Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom.
